Attorney Deo Kalikumutima, C.E.P of Kalikumutima& Co.Advocates to speak about land acquisition at the upcoming 2023 UNAA Convention & Trade Expo in Dallas
Our Chief Executive Partner, Attorney Deo Kalikumutima will be a Guest Speaker at the upcoming 35th Annual UNAA Convention & Trade Expo, to be held in Dallas, Texas from September 1st – 4th 2023 at the Hilton Anatole Dallas where he will speak about land acquisition in Uganda.
Attorney Deo will also moderate a land Forum discussing land grabbing, land fraud, fake land titles and exploring viable solutions to combat this widespread problem in Uganda. Hon. Dr. Sam Mayanya, the Minister of State for Lands; Mr Chris Tembo, the Chairman Standards Committee, Uganda National Land Information System; and Mr. Bigira Johnson, Ag. Asst.Commissioner Land Registration, will be some of the panelists of the day.
The Disapora Land Forum discussion comes at a time when the Diaspora Desk has just been created at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban development to directly address land related matters pertaining to the Diaspora, following a request by UNAA.
As the 2023 UNAA convention approaches, anticipation grows around Attorney Kalikumutima Deo’s significant contribution towards practical solutions to land protection, emphasizing the importance of securing land rights and establishing robust legal frameworks. The 2020 Annual Uganda Police Crime report revealed that 319 land-related crimes were reported and a total of UGX. 4,108,400,000 was lost in fraudulent land transactions. 9 out of 10 land cases result in fraud. Anyone can be a land fraud victim since it can happen at multiple layers and stages but there are proven formulars to minimise land fraud.
Attorney Deo Kalikumutima is a real estate lawyer who has dedicated his time to offering practical legal solutions with proven expertise over the past 10 years in Land conveyance, Business licensing, Tax advisory, Dispute resolution, foreign investment, Finance and banking, Securities, Intellectual property, and Immigration. Attorney Deo holds postgraduate qualifications in Tax advisory and Tax planning, all of which are critical for sustainable business licensing. He holds a Bachelor of Laws, Hons (UCU), Dip. The Ugandan Community in North America numbers over 120,000 individuals.
